Bring your own paddle craft (or select NEED ONE, while supplies last) and don your best witch or werewolf costume for a chance to win a gift card from our local sponsors! This spirited community fundraising event has a $20 participation fee, which includes a costume contest, a planned paddle route, 2 live bands, games, and an added WATCH PARTY at SUNSET GRILLE & after-party at Hub Stacey’s!

If you're a kayaking enthusiast, a devotee of werewolf lore, or simply captivated by the fusion of nature and the supernatural, the Werewolf Kayak Costume Contest welcomes you to immerse yourself in this thrilling experience. Get ready to paddle under the moon's enchantment, where the untamed spirit of the wolf and the allure of the water unite in an electrifying display.
If you are a devoted dog lover, or simply drawn to the idea of celebrating Halloween in a truly unique way our Spookiest Pooch category invites you to partake. Dress your dog in their most charming costume, embark on a watery adventure, and be part of a costume contest to celebrate Halloween.

PADDLE PARTICIPATION:
Kids ages 2-13 can ONLY participate in the costume contest.
7 - 15 TANDEM with PARENT
15+ CAN PARTICPATE only IF ABLE and must pay $20 GA

FAQs

1. All persons participating have to wear a life jacket & whistle
2. Do not participate if you cannot swim
3. Kids ages 2-13 can participate in the costume contest only. To participate in the paddle you must be at least 7 and ride tandem with a guardian.
Any sort of paddle craft is allowed, including: kayaks, paddle-boards, canoes, dinghies, rowboats, dragon boats.
The ride is a mile. Depending on current and weather the ride can be doable for novice and experienced paddlers alike.
Launching from Galvez, crossing the intercoastal to reach Sunset Beach, and then continuing to Spell Island (Island #2). Each destination will have different entertainment, at Sunset Beach there will be options for group and individual photos, Spell Island, for live music, picnicking and relaxation.
Yes, you can bring your own kayak or paddle board. There will be a limited amount of rentals available.
Yes! There is a limited amount of rental kayaks and paddle boards. Pre-registration is key in reserving your rental and ensuring there is a watercraft available to you.
Yes. To be an eligible costume contest winner you must register to participate with us.
Kids ages 2-13 can participate in the costume contest only. To participate in the paddle you must be at least 7 and ride tandem with a guardian.
Volunteers are non-paid and do not participate in the paddle ride, they do however get a volunteer t-shirt while supplies last, and a small lunch. Volunteer hours can be supplied upon request.
